Don’t miss this! All are welcome and the whole community is invited!

Save the date for an evening of live music on Saturday, March 14 at 5 p.m. featuring Matthew Weather and Clay Lunsford at Bethel.  Bring your friends for a "toe-tapping good time" with traditional Appalachian Mountain, gospel, and old-time country tunes, followed by refreshments.

Clay, President of the North Carolina Thumb Pickers, has performed in over 12,000 shows. Matthew, an Appalachian State graduate in History and Traditional Music of the Appalachians, has taken the stage at Dollywood, at the Grand Ole Opry, and in many churches across North Carolina. From 2011-2017, Matthew won First Place for Pianist-Instrumentalist of the year for the state at the North Carolina Folk Festival Music Competition.   Also in 2012, he was the recipient of the “Bascome Lamar Lunsford Trophy” which is the highest and most coveted music award from the state of North Carolina.  In 2025, Matthew was awarded the N. C. 's top award for volunteer service, The Long Leaf Pine Award, and was recognized for his many years of volunteer service to Rowan Helping Ministries.    Clay and Matthew, together, are also  members of The Gospel Voices Gospel Quartet of Union Grove, Clay’s family group, celebrating 58 years of music ministry.

Admission is free, but donations of canned food for Rowan Helping Ministries or pet food for rescue animals awaiting adoption are appreciated.. Our church, Bethel,  is located at 355 E.
