Lutheran women have a long history of Bible study, discipleship, and desire to deepen their spiritual life and learn about issues.
Bethel Women’s Group, also known as WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America), has a long history of doing good, as well. This group stands on the shoulders of all the women that came before them in earler years who shared their many talents and cared about our church.
In earlier days, the groups were called “Circles” and have always played a big role in congregational and community life at Bethel. They are one of the backbone groups of our church, and their contributions are deeply appreciated. Over the years, they’ve coordinated and prepared countless meals and carried service projects, including serving meals to families and friends after funeral services at Bethel. But WELCA isn’t all work. One favorite activity is the annual beach trip. Each fall, the group takes a trip to the beach for fun and fellowship. Visitors and new members are always welcome to attend Welca meetings. Please reach out to the church office to get contact information or to find out when the next meeting will be held. Bethel’s Men in Mission group has long been one of the congregation’s most dependable ministries. If there is a need, they show up. If there is a project, they step in. They have always been there for Bethel.
Through the years, the Men in Mission have taken on countless tasks that bless Bethel and our neighbors. Their work is hands‑on, and heartfelt.
Placing the Christmas candle in the parking lot each year, a beloved Bethel tradition.
Building ramps for those in need, offering safety and access in and out of their homes. They prepare and serve 5th Sunday Meals, bringing the congregation together in fellowship . Cooking for our annual Shrove Thursday Pancake Meal and Easter Sunrise Breakfast, are also another form of their service. Lastly, donating and giving out the traditional "Christmas Pokes," a small gift with big meaning is something, we all look forward two each Christmas season. Each Mother's Day at Bethel, they give our carnations to all the women, and hold drawings for gift cards.
Beside all their busy service, the Men in Mission enjoy their monthly meetings, sharing meals while they have fun fellowship. Their camaraderie is part of what makes this group so strong. Their support to Bethel is amazing.
At Bethel, we believe that faith grows deeper when we grow together. Our Men’s and Women’s Groups are open to anyone looking for connection, encouragement, and the chance to make a real difference through meaningful projects and shared service.
